Port Credit, Lorne Park and Clarkson get the lake storms first and hardest — wind that lifts 25-year-old shingles on the south slopes and drives rain into every tired flashing. On the treed lots in Lorne Park the emergency is often a branch through the roof, or a season's worth of debris that finally blocked a valley in a downpour. Further north in Erin Mills and Meadowvale the calls are wind on exposed corner lots and, in winter, ice dams on two-storey houses whose second roof was laid without eave membrane. If water is coming in, we come out, get on the roof and do what stops it that day — re-secure or replace the lifted section, seal the opening, clear the blocked drain or valley, cut back the branch and tarp the hole if that's what it is. When the house is dry we come back in daylight, check the rest of the roof — wind that took one section has usually loosened others — and give you a written, itemized quote for the permanent repair, with photos for your insurer.
Call when water is dripping or a stain is spreading, when shingles are on the lawn after a storm, when a branch has come down on the roof, when a flat roof has standing water that isn't going anywhere, or when ice has built up along the eaves with a damp wall below. Waiting for it to dry out on its own means replacing more drywall and insulation than you had to.
